Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 July 2026

FringePal is a free, independent Edinburgh Fringe app run by SOMETHINGCOOL. This page explains in plain English what information the app handles, why, and the rights you have over it. We comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The short version: your location never leaves your phone, your schedule lives on your device, we never sell your information, and no show or venue can pay to appear in your picks.

1 · Who we are

The data controller is SOMETHINGCOOL, registered in the United Kingdom, operating FringePal at fringepal.com. For anything to do with your data, email data@heressomething.cool.

2 · What the app handles

We don't collect payment details (FringePal is free) and we don't track you around the web.

3 · Why we use it

To do the thing you asked us to do: match you to shows, keep your plan, share it with the pals you chose, and email your plan if you request it. Optional Fringe tips by email happen only with your consent, withdrawable any time with one click.

4 · Who we share it with

Nobody, for marketing. We use a small number of providers under contract: Vercel (hosting and plan storage), Kit (mailing list, if you opt in) and Resend (delivers your plan email). Where data is transferred outside the UK it is protected by appropriate safeguards (such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework).

5 · How long we keep it

Shared plans stay until you ask us to remove them or the season archive is cleared after the Fringe. Email details stay until you unsubscribe or ask for deletion. Everything on your device stays until you delete the app or clear it.

6 · Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, withdraw consent, or ask for it in portable form: data@heressomething.cool. We respond within one month. You can also complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
